Hey beautybees! Welcome back to my new blog.
If you’re new here, check out my previous blogs. If not I will tag the link below.
n this blog, I will be giving some face wash and cleanser recommendations specifically for combination skin type. These are completely based on my own experience and nothing's sponsored.
So, let's directly get into choosing the right cleanser for a combination skin type-
Combination Skin ๐ผ
Finding the right balance is the name of the game! Look for cleansers that cater to both oily and dry areas of your face. Keep an eye out for these ingredients in your cleanser:
- Salicylic acid
- Glycolic acid
- Hyaluronic acid
- Aloe vera
- Jojoba oil
- Green tea extract
- Tea tree oil
- Niacinamide
- Vitamin E
- Witch hazel
- Chamomile
Before that just one more thing- I have rated the products (out of 5) as per my personal experience with them and arranged them from the highest rating to the lowest one. Again, I have used all the them and this is just about sharing my personal experiences honestly, it may vary from person to person.
All the products listed below are suitable for men and women.
1. Dr. Sheth's Ceramide & Vitamin C Face Wash- 5/5⭐
The face wash comes in a sleek, white tube with a flip-top cap, ensuring ease of use and preventing spillage. The minimalist design aligns with the brand's professional aesthetic. The face wash has a gel-like consistency, which foams up mildly. This texture is ideal for combination skin as it cleanses effectively without stripping the skin's natural oils. It has a mild, refreshing citrus scent that isn’t overpowering and fades quickly after rinsing. It is suitable for daily use, both morning and night.
It effectively removes dirt, excess oil, and light makeup without making the skin feel tight or dry. Post-wash, the skin feels clean yet hydrated, thanks to the ceramides and aloe vera. With regular use, there's a noticeable improvement in skin brightness and texture. Vitamin C helps fade minor pigmentation and adds a subtle glow. It manages to control excess oil in the T-zone while moisturizing drier areas (moisturizes well!), making it ideal for combination skin. It is free from harsh chemicals, parabens, and sulphates. It is also suitable for both men and women with combination skin. It lathers well and rinses clean. It is Paraben Free, Vegan, Non Toxic and Sulphate Free.
There are no major downsides to this facewash just that it may not be sufficient for too heavy makeup removal. The mild fragrance, though pleasant, might not suit those with fragrance sensitivities. AND THAT'S ALL!
As per my personal experience with the product after religiously using it for 2 weeks or so, though I have dry skin it does not cause any breakouts, my skin felt a little dry but pairing it with a gel-based moisturizer neutralised it all. I used this product quite a few months back because I don't have any particular reason but I am a big fan of Vitamin C and that was the only ingredient that drew my attention the most.
You can get this from the link below. One tube of 100 gm can continue for approximately 1.5 to 2 months if you use it twice daily.
Ingredient list- Myristic Acid, Glycerin, Aqua, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylene Glycol, Stearic Acid, Decyl Glucoside, Lauric Acid, Glycol Distearate, Xylitol, Glucose, Anhydroxylitol, Phoenix Dactylifera (Date Palm) Extract, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Sodium PCA, Glyceryl Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Glyceryl Glucoside, Polyquaternium-7, Sodium Metabisulfite, Titanium Dioxide, Ceramide, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl, Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Butylated Hydroxytoluene and Disodium EDTA.
2. Cetaphil Face Wash Gentle Skin Cleanser- 4.5/5 ⭐

The cleanser has a unique consistency that lies between gel and cream. This makes it easy to apply and spread across the face without being too heavy or too light. It is completely fragrance-free, which is a boon for those with sensitive skin or an aversion to scented products. The gentle formula effectively removes dirt, excess oil, and pollutants without stripping the skin of its natural oils.
This balance is crucial for combination skin, where you need to manage both oily and dry areas. Niacinamide and Vitamin B5 are standout ingredients for their hydrating and soothing properties. This cleanser maintains the skin’s moisture barrier, ensuring the dry areas are nourished while controlling oil in the T-zone. At the end of a long day, this cleanser provides a relaxing experience, leaving the skin feeling clean and refreshed. It removes makeup, SPF residues, and other impurities without the harshness of typical foaming cleansers. It does not lather much but it's creamy texture feels good on the skin. It simply does it's work well.
During winter, when the skin tends to be drier, this cleanser excels by providing much-needed hydration without clogging pores. It’s gentle enough to prevent irritation and dryness. In summer, combination skin often leans towards being oilier. While the cleanser performs well, I personally felt the need for a stronger cleanser to remove the residue of all other products and SPF. Pairing it with a little strong face wash, like I paired it with Nivea Milk and Honey Face Wash, can enhance the cleansing routine, making it ideal for the summer months. The combination of Cetaphil and Nivea Milk and Honey Face Wash worked exceptionally well for me, providing a thorough cleanse without over-drying the skin and it is its only drawback (Again, that is what I faced, having dry skin, and everyone has a different skin type and experience with the product).
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is a versatile and reliable option for those with combination skin. Its ability to balance hydration and cleansing makes it suitable for year-round use, with minor adjustments needed during different seasons. For individuals with combination skin looking for a gentle, effective cleanser, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is a fantastic choice. Its blend of niacinamide and Vitamin B5 ensures your skin remains healthy, clean, and balanced. Give it a try and experience the benefits of a well-formulated cleanser designed to meet the needs of combination skin.
You can purchase this from the link below. One bottle of 100 gm will easily continue for 1.5 to 2 months.
Ingredients list- Aqua, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Panthenol, Niacinamide, Pantolactone, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid. FIL.1747.V00
3. Minimalist 2% Salicylic Acid + LHA Face Wash
The packaging is sleek and minimalist (pun intended), with a simple pump dispenser that’s both practical and hygienic. The face wash has a clear gel texture and a very mild, almost non-existent fragrance, which is great for those sensitive to scents.
This face wash excels in controlling oil production and keeping the T-zone matte without stripping the skin. The 2% Salicylic Acid works to deeply cleanse the pores, reducing the frequency of breakouts and blackheads. Zinc PCA plays a crucial role here, regulating sebum production and preventing that midday shine. Despite its strong acne-fighting properties, this face wash is surprisingly gentle on the drier parts of your face. Aloe Vera ensures that your skin doesn’t feel tight or uncomfortable post-wash, maintaining a good level of hydration.
After using it for quite some time I have noticed clearer skin, balanced texture and refined pores! (that to be honest happens with very limited face washes)
Those with extremely dry skin might need an extra hydrating moisturizer. You can pair it with a light gel-based moisturizer and you are good to go.
The Minimalist 2% Salicylic Acid Face Wash is a fantastic option for those with combination skin, particularly if you struggle with an oily T-zone and occasional breakouts. It’s gentle yet effective, providing a deep cleanse without compromising your skin’s natural moisture. So, if you’re ready to say goodbye to stubborn blackheads and get a balanced complexion, give this face wash a try!
You can purchase this from the link attached below. One bottle of 100 ml can continue for approx 1 to 1.5 months if you wash your face with it twice daily.
Ingredient list- Aqua, Glycerin, Glyceryl Glucoside, Diglycerin, Methylpropanediol, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Pentylene Glycol, Methyl Gluceth-20, PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Panthenol, Betaine, Sodium PCA, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Allantoin, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate
4. The Derma Co 1% Kojic Acid Face Wash- 4/5⭐
This face wash features 1% Kojic Acid, which is known for its brightening properties. It's designed to help fade dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and even out skin tone. Alongside Kojic Acid, it includes Vitamin C and Niacinamide, two powerhouse ingredients for brightening and improving skin texture.
The packaging is simple and functional, with a pump dispenser that’s hygienic and easy to use. The face wash has a pleasant, mild fragrance – nothing too overpowering, just a fresh, clean scent. The texture is a clear gel that lathers up nicely without feeling too foamy.
This face wash does an excellent job at controlling oil without stripping your skin of its natural moisture. The Niacinamide works wonders here, keeping the oily T-zone in check and reducing that midday shine we all dread. Surprisingly, this face wash is gentle enough for the drier areas of your face. The formula doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight or dry, thanks to its balanced formulation. Your cheeks and other dry patches stay hydrated and comfortable.
As per my personal experience with the product- Using this face wash feels like a mini spa session. Massage it into your face for about 30 seconds, letting those active ingredients work their magic. Rinse it off, and you’re left with skin that feels clean, refreshed, and just the right amount of hydrated. After a few weeks, you will definitely notice dark spot reduction, brighter complexion, less pigmentation and balanced skin.
On the flip side of the coin- Results may take a few weeks to become noticeable and it might not be suitable for extremely sensitive skin.
So, if you’re tired of the constant battle between oily and dry patches, give this face wash a try. Your skin will thank you!

Designed to cleanse and brighten the skin without stripping it of essential moisture, this foaming face wash is effective in addressing the needs of combination skin: Cleansing, Brightening and Balancing.
As per my personal experience with the product- Using The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Foaming Face Wash is a refreshing experience. Simply dispense a small amount onto your palm, lather it onto damp skin in circular motions, and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. It effectively controls excess oil and sebum production in oily areas, while ensuring dry areas are cleansed without causing dryness or irritation.
For oily areas, it helps control excess oil and reduces shine throughout the day. For dry areas, it cleanses without causing dryness, leaving the skin soft and supple. Overall it improves skin clarity and brightness, suitable for daily use morning and night.
The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Foaming Face Wash is an excellent choice for combination skin aiming to achieve a glowing complexion. Its blend of rice water extract and gentle cleansing agents ensures your skin is left clean, brightened, and balanced.
FreshhFleshhTip: Follow with a hydrating toner and moisturizer to enhance the brightening effects and lock in moisture.
You can purchase this from the link below. One tube of 50 ml will easily continue for 2 to 3 weeks (enough to make a decision). And I understand it is quite tough on the pocket but trust me it is worth at least trying. After all, Korean skincare is actually the best! (talking from my personal experience)
Ingredients list- Potassium Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Glycol Distearate, Lauric Acid, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Cocamide Mea, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Saponaria Officinalis Leaf Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Titanium Dioxide, Sodium Chloride, Divinyldimethicone/Dimethicone Copolymer, C12-13 Pareth-23, C12-13 Pareth-3, Butylene Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Disodium Edta, Blue 1 (Ci 42090), Yellow 5( Ci 19140), Red 4 (Ci 14700), Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Parfum/Fragrance, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde
6. Mamaearth Rice Water Cleansing Face Wash- 3.5/5⭐
Trust me I am not a big fan of Mamaearth products but this one is good-good!
The face wash comes in a convenient, travel-friendly tube with a flip-top cap, ensuring easy usage and preventing spillage. The packaging reflects the brand's clean and eco-friendly image. The face wash has a very thick cream-like consistency but is lightweight and easy to apply. It lathers pretty well, but is on point with the balance between cleansing power and gentleness.
The face wash effectively removes dirt, excess oil, and light makeup without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. It leaves the skin feeling clean and refreshed.
Thanks to rice water and niacinamide, the face wash provides adequate hydration, ensuring the skin doesn’t feel tight or dry post-wash. This is especially beneficial for combination skin, where dry areas need moisture while oily areas require regulation. With regular use, there’s a noticeable improvement in skin brightness and texture. Rice water helps in reducing dullness and enhancing the skin's natural radiance. The product even promises to give you a glass skin finish, which personally i didn't get after using it for somewhat a month.
During summer, when the skin tends to be oilier, this face wash helps in controlling excess oil without causing dryness. It keeps the skin balanced and refreshed. In winter, the face wash provides sufficient hydration to combat dryness in certain areas of the face, maintaining an overall balanced skin condition.
This might not be sufficient for removing heavy makeup. The subtle fragrance, while pleasant, might not be suitable for those sensitive to scents.
Mamaearth Rice Water Cleansing Face Wash is a great addition to any skincare routine, particularly for those with combination skin. Its blend of rice water and niacinamide ensures a balanced, gentle cleanse that hydrates, brightens, and improves overall skin texture. The product’s ability to adapt to different seasonal needs makes it versatile and reliable. Perfect for a fresh-wash after a long day.
The packaging is simple and practical, with a flip-top cap that’s easy to use. The cleanser itself is a clear gel with no added fragrance, which is perfect for those with sensitive skin or anyone looking to avoid unnecessary chemicals.
This cleanser do effectively removes excess oil without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. It leaves your face feeling clean and refreshed, reducing the likelihood of breakouts.
Thanks to its hydrating ingredients like Pro-Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E, this cleanser keeps dry skin feeling soft and supple. It doesn’t leave that tight, uncomfortable feeling that some cleansers can cause. Balancing both oily and dry areas, this cleanser manages to clean thoroughly while keeping your skin hydrated. It’s gentle enough for daily use, making it a versatile addition to your routine. Free from artificial perfumes, dyes, and harsh chemicals, this cleanser is designed to minimize irritation. The inclusion of Bisabolol ensures that sensitive skin is soothed and calmed.
As per my experience with the product using this is a gentle breeze (it actually was, maybe because of the fan, but I really felt great while using this). Apply a small amount to your damp face, gently massage it in circular motions, and rinse off with lukewarm water. Your skin feels clean, refreshed, and balanced.
BUT this face wash Might not be strong enough for heavy makeup removal (consider double cleansing if you wear makeup, and that's why I gave it 3.5). Some may prefer a foaming cleanser for a deeper clean but this one works fine too.
The Simple Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Wash is a fantastic option for anyone looking for a gentle yet effective daily cleanser. It’s especially great for those with sensitive skin or anyone wanting to avoid harsh chemicals and fragrances.
You can purchase this from the link below. One bottle of 100 gm will easily continue for 1.5 to 2 months.
Ingredients list- Aqua, Glycerin, Isopropyl Palmitate, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Stearate, Panthenol, Allantoin, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Bisabolol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Methylparaben, Sodium Hydroxide, 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1,3-Diol, Bht, Edta, Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil, Pantolactone, Tocopheryl Acetate
8. Biotique Bio Neem Purifying Face Wash- 3/5⭐
Before I say anything, Biotique personally does not suit my skin at all, but my brother and some of my friends have used it for years and they loved it. So again, it depends on skin to skin and person to person and that's why this is on the list.
The packaging is straightforward and eco-friendly, true to Biotique’s nature-inspired branding. The face wash comes in a squeeze tube, making it easy to dispense the right amount of product.
This face wash is specifically beneficial for combination skin types, as it balances the oil production in your T-zone while ensuring your cheeks don’t get too dry. The presence of neem ensures that any acne-prone areas are kept under control, while soapnut provides a gentle cleanse suitable for everyday use.
For Oily Areas, this face wash effectively removes excess oil without making your skin feel tight or dry and helps in controlling sebum production, reducing shine throughout the day.
For Dry Areas, the soapnut ensures that the skin isn’t stripped of its natural oils, keeping the dry areas hydrated and it leaves the skin feeling soft and balanced. (Mine too, no biases!)
I personally loved its key ingredients- Neem, Ritha (Soapnut) and Kulanjan (Greater Galangal)
BUT this might not be suitable for extremely dry or sensitive skin due to the presence of neem, which can be slightly drying. The herbal scent might not be appealing to everyone.
FreshhFleshhTip: If you wear heavy makeup, consider using a gentle makeup remover before this face wash to ensure all traces of makeup are removed.
Now, this is a solid choice for those with combination skin looking for a natural, effective cleanser. Its blend of neem and soapnut ensures your skin is left clean, balanced, and refreshed without any harsh chemicals.
You can purchase this from the link below. One bottle of 100 gm will easily continue for 1 to 1.5 months. Also, 100 ml costs you somewhat around Rs. 150, so this is super easy on your pocket.
Ingredients list- Withania Somnifera Extract, Alpinia Galanga Rhizome Extract, Azadirachta Indica Bark Extract, Sapindus Mukurossi Fruit Extract, Mel, Coconut Oil, Water
9. Dot & Key Cica Calming Blemish Clearing Gel Face Wash- 3/5 ⭐
The packaging of the product is sleek and modern, with a cap that makes it easy to control the amount of product you use. This face wash is specifically formulated to address the concerns of combination skin. It helps in controlling excess oil in the T-zone while soothing dry areas.
The gel texture feels refreshing upon application, lathers well, and effectively removes excess oil without leaving the skin feeling stripped. This face wash works wonders in controlling sebum production in the T-zone while simultaneously soothing sensitive areas with Cica and niacinamide. Willow bark extract further aids in gently exfoliating the skin, keeping pores clear and minimizing breakouts. The formula is free from parabens and sulphates, making it suitable for daily use without causing irritation. However, the fragrance might be strong for those with sensitive noses.
BUT gel texture may not be hydrating enough for those with very dry skin.
As per my personal experience with the product- This face wash was very hyped a few months back and I used it for 1.5 to 2 months for my fresh wash after make-up and SPF. But after using it for 4-5 times I felt my skin dried out (of course because I have dry and sensitive skin and this product is not formulated for this type of skin type) but pairing it with a moisturizer worked well for me. And I continued using it for 2 months for my fresh wash. And it is as I always say- "It's not about what others recommend, it's about what fits for you."
Therefore, it is an excellent choice for combination skin types looking to manage oiliness, blemishes, and sensitivity. Its gentle yet effective formula makes it a versatile addition to your skincare routine.
FreshhFleshhTip: Follow up with a lightweight moisturizer or serum to lock in hydration after cleansing.
You can purchase this from the link below. One tube of 100 gm will easily continue for 1 to 1.5 months. And if you still have your doubts about the product- just take a look at the ingredient list!
Ingredients list- Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Decyl Glucoside, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Butylene Glycol, Salicylic Acid, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Centella Asiatica (Cica) Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Zinc Pca, Lactobacillus/Pear Juice Ferment Filtrate, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Rehmannia Chinensis Root Extract, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Leaf Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Camphor, Benzophenone - 4, Panthenol, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Benzyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tocopherol, Ci 19140, Ci 42090
10. Plum Green Tea Pore Cleansing Face Wash- 3/5 ⭐
Again, you have not heard me talking about "Plum" much (not until we are talking about scrubs, toners or serums). But I just tried this face wash just for my fresh washes and yes, this is actually a spa treatment at home.
This one is infused with green tea extracts and glycolic acid (and my readers might know how big I am on Green Tea, Aloe Vera, Vitamin C and a few other herbal ingredients), making it a perfect solution for combination skin. Green tea is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which help in controlling acne and reducing redness. Glycolic acid, a gentle exfoliant, aids in removing dead skin cells and unclogging pores, thereby preventing breakouts and promoting smoother skin texture.
"Soap free and SLS free gently foaming cleansing system." That's what INCI Decoder says and I blindly trust this website. (no judgements please). Although the label of the product says that it is for oily skin, but this is not that strong formula to deeply clean oily skin types. But you can try though if your skin is not tooooo oily.
The face wash has a gel-like consistency that lathers into a creamy foam when mixed with water. It spreads easily on the skin and provides a thorough cleanse without stripping away natural oils. The foaming action helps in removing excess oil and impurities from the skin's surface, leaving it feeling clean and refreshed.
This face wash effectively cleanses the skin, removes dirt, and controls sebum production in oily areas. It helps in preventing new breakouts and keeps the skin looking clear. Regular use of this face wash can lead to a reduction in acne and an improvement in overall skin health. However, if you have very verrryyyy sensitive skin may want to patch test first, as the product contains glycolic acid which can cause irritation in some cases.
The face wash has a mild, pleasant fragrance that adds to the refreshing feeling after cleansing. It comes in sleek and sturdy tube packaging, making it convenient for travel and daily use.
You can purchase this from the link below. One tube of 100 gm will easily continue for 1 to 1.5 months.
Ingredients list- Aqua (Water), Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Carbomer, Cellulose Beads, Cocamide DEA, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fda Approved Colours, Fragrance, Glycerin, Glycolic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Laureth Sulfate
Closing words
If you have a high budget you can even consider buying-
I have used both of them for quite a few time and I seriously have no words to express how great they both are! So must-try!
